GET YOUR KICKS...

ON ROUTE 66!!

Anyone else remember that terrific TV series "Route 66"? I loved that show… of course I also had a crush on George Maharis, the "bad boy" of the duo traveling that famous highway. It didn't matter that I was just a kid,  I could still daydream of running off with him in that Corvette (never mind that it was owned by Martin Milner in the series).

That show sparked my interest in the iconic highway … an interest that continues to this very day. So it was cool to see that the Mercer Museum in Doylestown was featuring this exhibit:

If you haven't had a chance to take this journey yet, don't fret. It's featured at the museum on South Pine Street  through Aug. 24. And if you'd like a taste of what you'll see, here are some photos to whet your appetite.

How about these attractions from Illinois?

Yep, Elvis and Nixon… and below is a car that once belonged to the King!

 Hmm… interesting...

 This must be the spot!

 Anyone remember drive-ins?

Some wicked cool modes of transportation...

 And then there's this...

I'd still love to travel Route 66 -- but I'd better find a traveling companion of a like mind soon or I may have to erase this dream from my bucket list!!
