Visiting Christmas land

I know Christmas is over for another year, but it was a lot of fun to visit the National Christmas Center this week in Paradise -- Paradise, Pa., that is.
I had never been to the center, but had seen a few photos online and was eager to check it out.
We were not disappointed!
It was really cool to see the replica of an old Woolworth's store -- and so much more!
Here are some photos that give you just a taste of what you will find there.

You start off my thinking back fondly to "A Christmas Story" ...

And you can travel around the world to visit Christmases of the past...

If you like the Christmas movie, "The Ref," this saint may look familiar...

There are plenty of representations of Santa...

And then head to the old Woolworth's...

This is a huge quilt that took four years to create...

Bright lights!!

More displays...

This is a brilliant train display, huge and set up so it's like you're under the tree!

And of course the nativity...

The center is open weekends in March and April, then seven days a week May 1 through New Year's.  Closed Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.  It's located on Route 30 in Paradise. So you may want to check it out next year!

Hometown Heroes Holiday!

If you haven't checked out the Christmas tree display in Lansdale yet -- "A Hometown Heroes Holiday!" -- what are you waiting for?

The fabulous display, housed in the Ross Family Building at 209 W. Main St., Lansdale, runs until Dec. 23 and definitely is worth a visit.

It is sponsored by the Lansdale Business Association and Lansdale Mural Arts. The Lansdale Historical Society and local businesses have trees featured in the display.

You can stroll through this wonderful display in indoor comfort.

There's an awesome train display by Henning's Trains, which is dedicated to the late Dick Stricker. The buildings and many of the trains are from Stricker's personal collection.

The display is open Thursdays and Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
For more information, you can call 215-855-6700.
But don't miss this great display. It's sure to get you in the holiday spirit!

You're invited to pose in this great display for a family photo!

Oh -- and don't forget to fill out a card to send a holiday greeting to a service member.
