Back when I was in high school, LONG before the days of air-conditioned schools (or very much of anything air-conditioned, for that matter), I had a teacher who would complain about the temperature in his classroom by roaring, "It's hotter than HADES in here!"
That was, of course, his polite way of saying it was hotter than hell...
And we've been through a hellish week... some would say a hellish summer.
So here are a few photos to help you cool off ... and prepare you for when we start complaining about the COLD weather!
It is a gorgeous day today, and I'm ignoring the predictions for rain on Easter Sunday.
It is so beautiful today, so just enjoy. We have no control over what tomorrow may bring, so I plan to bask in the moment.
This daffodil is trying its best to open, and perhaps by Sunday it will have succeeded.
I know many other yards are already boasting these yellow beauties, but I'm content to wait.

This winter has been so gray, gloomy, cloudy, misty, dark and, yes, depressing. At least for me and many of my friends and family members.
But today is the first day of spring! And that prompted me to think of the Dickinson quote noted above, which has helped me make it through many a challenging time.
Yesterday I wondered around my soggy yard for a bit, because it was so great to be outside with the sun shining. And I discovered these crocuses, which also "survived the night" of winter.
They made me smile, my heart sing.
So celebrate the fact that we have survived winter!
Hope springs eternal.
Today we were granted some reason to hope -- after Monday's snow and ice, the sun came out, we got to see blue sky and it was a bit warmer.
It was so pretty after I got home from work this afternoon, I just had to snap some photos...
There were a few little reminders of winter's chill, however...
But let's not dwell on the ice and snow. Tomorrow is the first day of spring. How about a repeat of today?
