To the Olympics...

While in Munich, we made a trip out to the site of the 1972 Olympics.
If you remember, it also was the site of great tragedy, when 11 Israeli Olympic team members were taken hostage and then killed, along with a German police officer, by Black September, a Palestinian terrorist group.
You might think with that background, the site would be a bit more somber.
You'd be wrong.
The stadium and tower are amazing, of course, and there's a pleasant park there. But the vendors, food spots and games make it a bit too reminiscent of the boardwalk on the Jersey Shore.
It was still a cool site to visit, and since BMW World is next door, we stopped there as well.

Visiting the 'royals'

As a continuation of sharing some of my recent travels in Germany, today I offer a few photos from Schloss Nymphenburg -- the Nymphenburg Palace and Park that is part of Munich's beauty.
It's hard to imagine when the royals strolled through these massive halls and had hundreds of acres and smaller, but glorious, structures where they could also relax, bathe and worship.
Here's a glimpse of these impressive site.

Recent travels..

I had the great good luck to recently visit Germany and the Czech Republic, with a one-day sojourn into Salzburg as well.
I'll share some of those photos in the next week or so to show you some of the amazing sites you can take in as a traveler.
I traveled with a friend, so there were no tours involved -- we adventured on our own. It was a fabulous experience!

To start, here are some photos from Munich:
