Yep, they were fab!

Did you happen to amble on over to Fischer's Park in Towamencin on Thursday? If you did, you surely enjoyed the wickedly good performance by Almost Fab! I know I did!

Almost Fab! is, of  course, a Beatles tribute band. And they rocked the park for about two hours, much to the delight of young and old alike.

Now I have actually seen The Beatles in concert. Yep, "When I'm 64" hits home for me! I've also seen Paul McCartney in concert a few times, Ringo Starr once and even Pete Best a few times. If you don't know who Pete Best is, you may as well not read on...

But back to Almost Fab! They certainly aren't the Fab Four, but they sure do delight.

They had the fans singing along, dancing and just enjoying the tunes that spanned The Beatles' career.

If you missed them, they will be playing a rain makeup date on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. at Whites Road Park in Lansdale. They do warn you to come early, as the park gets packed. I know there was a huge crowd in Towamencin on a perfect night for an outdoor gig

And there even was a bit of a strange bonus, as Forrest Gump paid a visit. Well, actually it was Paul Dengler, a Gump impersonator (and, as his card says, "visual artist, singer/songwriter, inspirational speaker") who was more than happy to pose with concert-goers for photos. How could I resist?

On the mend!!

I am happy to report that Domino is well on his way to a full recovery! Here he is lazing on my bed, no longer ill and feverish...

His checkup at the end of last week showed that his gaping wound from the abscess (trust me, you don't want to see those pictures) is healing quite nicely.

He was a trooper while getting another antibiotic injection and having some more blood drawn, but for the time being at least, he is off insulin. The remission may be temporary, but my fingers are crossed until his next checkup in a week or so.

He's a bit anemic, but that's being chalked up to the ordeal he's been through.
Yes, he's doing well -- although I think he's milking this for all it's worth.
Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers! It was rough going at the outset, but great vet care and his strong spirit has pulled him through!

My sweet Domino

I am praying for a quick recovery for Domino, my so-sweet kitty who doesn't deserve to be sick. He's in the hospital tonight, feeling lousy, hooked up to an IV and sporting this lovely blue and pink e-collar.

But this story started several months ago.  Domino was diagnosed with diabetes in April, when he simply was supposed to be checking into the vet hospital for a teeth cleaning. But the blood and urine tests painted a different picture, and so the work to get a good balance with insulin began. The dental procedure had to be put on hold.
Then last weekend he stopped eating, so I couldn't inject his insulin.
Monday morning found him back at the vet,  and suddenly the dental -- and lots of extractions -- took center stage. Infection was taking hold in his mouth and it wasn't a pretty picture.
He came home Monday night, but just didn't bounce back. He barely was eating, the pain meds made him a little loopy and he just seemed "off." He did have his own "suite," bunking in the master bath/bedroom with room service included.
Then Thursday morning I was greeted by drops of blood on the bathroom floor. I feared a possible urinary blockage, not uncommon in male cats. So he accompanied me to work again, but it wasn't a UTI. No, he had a huge abscess lurking under his tail. Bloody, skin sloughing off… Enough said.
So he's in ICU, having the nasty area cleaned, receiving IV fluids and plenty of attention.
Diabetics are much more prone to infections, but this is just so unfair for this gentle soul.
Say a prayer that soon he'll be back to his loving, silly self -- as in the photo below.
Get well soon, Domino!!

A time to bloom

Time for a little walk in the garden. Othercat is not our cat, but he loves to hang around outside and stroll through the flowers. His name? We call him Othercat because he was that "other cat" that passed by but never really moved on this spring. He's not really tame, but he will approach you a bit...

DAISIES ARE MY FAVORITE!

Othercat thinks he is very cute...

 SPEAKING OF OTHER CATS...

EDITORIAL COMMENT??

Othercat has the right idea. Take some time to relax and enjoy the great outdoors...

Neither rain….

Nope, no stopping the Red, White and Blue Parade in Upper Salford. A little bit of rain won't stop us from celebrating!!

Happy Fourth of July

Last year, the weather on the Fourth of July was hot and sunny. This year, well, not so much.

But just in case the rain prevents you from heading out to festivities this morning, here are a few shots from the 2013 Red, White and  Blue parade in Upper Salford. It's always a great, small-town celebration!

Whatever you do today, take some time to remember those who have served our country, present and past.

Go ahead, eat too much, take in some patriotic fun and ooh and ahhh  as fireworks light up the sky.
Have a wonderful Fourth!

Looking for something different to wear to that Fourth of July celebration?
This might be it!!

And pair that dress with these sparkled boots!

Me, I'd rather watch the Red, White and Blue Parade in Upper Salford. Here's a favorite from last year!
